7+ TUITION & ENTRANCE EXAMS

Who is the 7+ for?
We usually work with children in Years 1 and 2 to prepare for 7+ entrance exams. The 7+ is often a child’s first experience of a formal entrance test, taken in Year 2 for entry to Year 3 at selective independent schools.

Our goal is to give children a strong foundation in Maths and English, build their confidence, and help them approach the 7+ calmly and positively.

You do not need to know yet exactly which school your child will attend. We focus on developing core skills, good habits and a love of learning – so that they are ready for both 7+ and, later on, 11+ if you choose to go down that route.
In recent years our 7+ success rate has been between 90% and 100% each year, with four years at 100%
OUR APPROACH
Our 7+ tuition programme is carefully structured to match the demands of selective school exams while remaining age‑appropriate and enjoyable.

We focus on:
• English – reading accuracy and comprehension, story writing and descriptive writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar, and widening vocabulary.
• Maths – number bonds and mental arithmetic, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, word problems and reasoning, and early work with shape and measures.
• Exam awareness – working carefully under gentle time pressure, checking work, and building resilience and focus in test situations.

Lessons are delivered in small groups of 2 – 4 students, with a dedicated teacher and teaching assistant, so each child receives individual support while learning alongside others at a similar level.

What's included in our 7+ programme

• Weekly lessons in Maths and English with 7+ style questions
• Structured One Learning booklets and practice papers
• Gentle introduction to timed work and test techniques
• Regular feedback and progress reports for parents
• Support in choosing suitable schools and planning the 7+ timeline
All 7+ students begin with a 1.5‑hour assessment so we can understand their current level in Maths and English and how ready they are for 7+ work. There is a one‑off assessment fee, but if you decide to continue and pay for the first month’s fees, we discount one week’s lessons – so the assessment cost is effectively covered in your first month.
